Q.1. Why should I have our carpets cleaned, they still “look” o.k.?

Even dirty carpeting may “look” clean. This is because carpeting is designed by manufacturers to trap, hold and hide dirt, including: soil, sand, germs, bacteria and other noxious substances, dust, dust mites and their feces, dander and other allergens, etc. Because carpeting holds dirt, acting as a filter for the air we breathe, carpeting must be cleaned even if it does not “look” dirty.

“Refreshing the indoor environment can be as easy as following a regular vacuuming and restorative cleaning schedule.” (CRI’s Carpet Maintenance Guidelines for Commercial Applications)

In addition to cleaning for health, carpeting must also be cleaned in order to preserve its lifespan. Dirt that is not removed regularly by an effective carpet cleaning system will sit at the base of the carpet fibres and damage them. Carpeting begins to look unsightly and replacement will soon become a consideration. Keeping carpets properly cleaned will delay the significant capital expenditure required to replace carpeting and will save you money. Refer to the Planned Maintenance Graph in the Commercial section for more information.

“The use-life of carpet can be greatly extended with proper care.” (IICRC S100 – Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning)

Q.2. What will it cost to clean our carpets? What is a fair price?

It is a question we all ask, and an important one. It is crucial that you get the best VALUE for your money! Best value never means low cost. It takes a true professional to accomplish the long lasting aesthetic, health and carpet lifespan benefits that you expect.

At Nu-Life Carpet Care, we give consideration to:
• identifying and removing diverse types and levels of soiling with varied procedures (tailored to your situation)
• identifying fibre types and blends, and carpet construction
• operating machinery in the indoor environment, working around office furnishings, etc.
• understanding and accounting for security issues
• providing specialty spotting treatments

A great cleaning company will evaluate every job in order to:
• create superior cleaning results for health, aesthetics and carpet longevity
• perform the work in a time-efficient manner so as not to disrupt your schedule
• be available after the cleaning for after-care procedures, spotting service calls, etc.
• preserve your indoor space (no new damage)
• build lasting client relationships

Superior cleaning companies charge between 10 and 30 cents per square foot. Our rates fall within this range and depend upon variables such as frequency of the cleaning schedule, amount of square footage, etc. We are pleased to provide complimentary quotations—call to book an appointment: 403-275-7974.

Q.3. The janitorial company says they can clean our carpets. Their price seems very reasonable. Why should I hire you instead?

Janitorial companies typically perform a wide variety of services, from cleaning bathrooms, dusting desks and washing windows, to vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors—all valuable services. Some of them offer carpet cleaning as an add-on for their clients. Considering that a janitorial contract is almost always worth significantly more than a carpet cleaning contract, it is not difficult for some of these companies to offer a budget-oriented carpet cleaning service, often using uncertified cleaners and inferior equipment and systems, for a low price. However, a low price never means the best value for the client. Hiring a true professional carpet cleaning company with certified technicians, commercial-grade equipment and proven, innovative systems, is always a better option.

“Homeowners and facility managers must not wait until carpet looks soiled before beginning a planned program. Significant soil accumulation at the base of the carpet fibres occurs long before it becomes visible. In addition, the greater the soiling, the less the likelihood of restoring the original color, appearance and texture of the carpet, and the greater the adverse affect on IEQ (indoor environmental quality).” (IICRC S100 – Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning)

At Nu-Life Carpet Care, we have purposefully chosen to specialize in fibre cleaning. We are experts in the carpet cleaning industry and operate with strong business ethics, believing in building relationships not in making one-time sales. We produce amazing results in commercial settings, and are fully accountable to our clients. We provide you with a Soil Recovery Report and can also perform a Soil Load Analysis Our Dual Stage Process removes a minimum of 5x more soil dry than any other system. Q.4. Some carpet cleaning companies use portable extractors. What is a portable?

There are many companies that use portables for carpet cleaning. The ability of a portable to clean deeply is limited. Since the power to run a portable is limited to electrical power in the building, the machine can produce either “hot water at low water flow rates” OR “increased suction/extraction ability”, but not both at the same time. Portable extractors are great for upholstery cleaning. A portable is as different from a truck-mounted high-heat extraction unit as a broom is from a vacuum. You should be aware of this fact if you are enquiring about hot-water extraction methods of cleaning. Ask the prospective carpet cleaning company exactly what type of equipment they will be using to clean.

Nu-Life has developed a proprietary Dual Stage Process of cleaning to meet the demands of commercial settings. It is extremely effective at removing damaging micro-grit (clients receive a Soil Recovery Report) and at eradicating residues due to spills and other accidents. Since the development and implementation of this Dual Stage Process, our base of repeat and referral clients has been steadily growing. We are proud of our innovation because our clients are proud of their cleaning results. Let us show you what we can do for you!

Q.2. What will it cost to clean my carpets? What is a fair price?

It is a question we all ask, and an important one. It is crucial that you get the best VALUE for your money! Best value never means low cost. It takes a true professional to accomplish the long lasting aesthetic and health benefits that you expect.

At Nu-Life Carpet Care, we give consideration to:
• operating high-powered equipment in your home
• working around your valuable furniture and possessions
• identifying and removing diverse types and levels of soiling with varied applications (tailored to your situation)
• identifying fibre types and blends, and carpet construction
• improving drying times
the list is endless…

A great cleaner will evaluate every job in order to:
• preserve your home (no new damage)
• create cleaning results so superior that your carpet will NOT self-soil for several years
• perform the work in a time-efficient manner so as not to disrupt your schedule
• be available after the cleaning for after-care procedures

For superior cleaning companies, competitive rates range from approximately 30 to 75 cents per square foot. Our base rate is 55 cents per square foot, which may range slightly up or down depending on individual and specific needs, e.g., deep shag, woven products, organic or chemical contamination, etc. We are happy to discuss your situation by phone: 403-275-7974.

Q.3. How long will the carpet take to dry?

Drying time is dependent upon several variables, assuming the carpet cleaning was performed properly by a certified technician. These variables include:
• relative humidity
• density and type of fibre
• soiling conditions present on the carpet
• temperature of the water used
• technician procedure

IICRC acceptable timeframe is 1 to 24 hours. Our average dry time is 2 to 6 hours.

Q.4. Can I walk on it afterwards?

Please keep in mind that while fibres are drying they are more susceptible to matting and newly transferred soils. Using your carpet directly after cleaning increases the possibility of wicking problems, slows down drying, and compromises the natural texture. Covering your carpet with plastic, sheets, etc., inhibits drying. The first 2 to 3 hours are the most critical. There are ways to “speed dry” if necessary. These methods can be discussed at time of booking and implemented on site.

Q.5. Do you use sanitizers?

Our objective on every cleaning job is to clean to a healthy state. The use of spray-on sanitizers and antimicrobial agents can be problematic. They are designed only for specific conditions. To truly sanitize one must truly clean. Proper cleaning removes soils and contaminants, and is the most effective way to sanitize (i.e., no chemical residues – no biological residues).

Q.6. Do I need after-treatments (i.e. fabric guard, deodorizers, sanitizers, etc.)?

Using sanitizing agents on a standard cleaning job is not recommended for a couple of reasons:

Often they are chemically incompatible with alkaline-based cleaning agents, causing unwanted “sticky” residues which are very difficult to remove later.

They may add a negative chemical impact to your indoor environment.

The use of fabric guard is discretionary. We believe that some situations warrant their use and others may not. We can provide a recommendation based on your specific needs.

Q.7. What about “dry” cleaning or “quick dry” methods?

Many “dry” cleaning methods are performed with moisture, albeit low moisture. Some of these are widely considered by the industry to be superficial or “appearance only” cleaning methods. They may also be costly and labour intensive. The most important component of any cleaning job however, is the expertise of the technician that will be doing the work

At Nu-Life, we believe you will receive the best value for your money by having your residential carpeting professionally cleaned using high-heat, truck-mounted extraction by an experienced, IICRC-certified technician. We believe that this is the preferred method for removing residential residue-type soils and contaminants from carpeting, e.g., food and drink spills, cooking vapours, smoke, pet accidents and pet-hair oils, bodily fluids and oils from bare feet, other organic contaminants, etc.

Q.8. How quickly can I get an appointment?

We can usually book an appointment within two or three days, but planning a week in advance may provide you with more choices as to date and time.
